You may want to read this amazon.com and its older but still enjoyable sister amazon.com Then travel, travel, travel. It is fun and can be profitable too.

I start with Google, next a Lonely Planet guide, followed by an airline ticket. Get in contact with Real Estate agents prior to going. I lived in Africa, my parents did as well (S. Africa & Rhodesia), and my inlaws are currently in Kenya where my parents lived as well at one time. My inlaws also lived in Jamaica for 5 years, and I enjoyed annual visits to them when they lived there. So I kind of have the bug to go somewhere, just trying to decide where and what I'll do once I take the plunge.

>>Will you guys share your research? I imagine a lot of us would like to know some welcoming foreign locations.<<
