Yep. There's a reason we have things like patents and trademarks. There's also a reason why China in particular totally ignores these things at will. Without legal and financial protections from the government, innovations are easily distributed (for free) to those who didn't invest to get them. We think of protecting the 'homeland' first in terms of national security. Why don't we think the same way in terms of economic security?
