Bill and I won't have much beyond our social security checks to live on at that point.

Well, at least I won't need a furnace to warm my place up. I will look to the new Kingdom of Hawaii to look after me.

John,

If American troops are in Iraq in 09, the Democratic Party will be like the Republicans in 1969 - reverse field. They won't have a time table to withdraw. They will maintain that Iraq is vital in the war against Terrorism. That despite the errors of the Bush Administration, al-Qaida is now in Iraq in large numbers and must be defeated. They will note that al-Qeada attacked the States before the invasion of Iraq, and will continue to attack the U.S. if we leave Iraq - the only difference being al-Qeada will have a base in the Middle East to launch insurgencies into neighboring countries. They will point out that al-Qaida was involved in a Civil War in Afghanistan, and yet found time to plan and support the 9/11 attack from safe zones under their control, launch insurgencies in neighboring countries - and therefore can be involved in a civil war in Iraq and still plan terrorism against the States from areas in their control in Iraq. They will note that al-Qeada has made it clear that their objective is to chase Americans and American influence out of the Islamic World. And they will maintain that they cannot allow a region of the middle east to be a safe haven for al-Qeada.

I do not see why you can say that al Qeada is not the largest problem likely to occur in Iraq. Al Qeada is the group stoking the flames of Civil War.
