Of course, many, many veterans, including yours truly, are not members of The American Legion of Doom. My Dad never liked them, though he was a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars. However, the American Legion once did give me a scholarship for $100 while I was in college. It doesn't sound like much today, but I was and am highly appreciative, and it was a nice sum in 1965. But they were pretty right wing, even back then.
