I seem to remember another case like this in recent years - was it at the Boston Globe? Wherever it was, I thought they fired the guy or suspended him and he quit. Then again, maybe I'm imagining it. At any rate, it will be interesting to see what the powers that be at the newspaper do about this latest embarrassment.

If he admitted it was from an old column, he is off the hook. But he didn't. Here is what he said.

My second thought was of a couple of stories from several years ago that dramatically illustrated the differences in the ways that white and black drivers can be treated.

Now he can claim the facts were from an old column. But he should have said so.
