jdxx and Eric, thanks for your advice! I bit the bullet and ordered PM v 8.0 for $18.43 including shipping from one of the Amazon merchants. I can then be more pro-active in changing partitions without risking data. The manual is on the CD.

jdxx, you are right! You said >Wipe the drive and start all over. You can setup the partition scheme the way you want it and then just restore the data<

My second HD is a WD. It came with some software and I discovered it allows repartitioning [it's a windows program]. I made 2 partitions, lost all the backed up data and then backed up the data again using Iomega Quiksync III. All I needed to do is enter the new drive letter in Quiksync.

The WD program is not as flexible as Partition Magic - which I have ordered for under $20. PM allows partitioning without losing data.
