whammo! 96 degree temperatures."

96? We generally are over 100 at this time of year, usually closer to 110. We aren't anywhere close, and that is a blessing...

Even if the temp in S CA was over 100....there would be no comparison. I've been in Houston when it was 85º and thought my shirts would rot off from decay due to all the sweat. Houston made me realize I had a lot more sweat glands than I thought. In S. CA, most people who do not live in the interior valleys don't even have AC in their homes, just work. The climates are very different.

Yeah, I know, 96 degrees is normal for mid-Atlantic summers where I grew up. But around here, I think people are less tolerant of heat. So they all turn on the air conditioners at the same time, and California as you know is pretty strained when it comes to supplying power.

Only this time there's no Enron or Gray Davis to blame it on.
