I still don't buy your analogy. Americans have had a much more active participation in the operation of their gov't than Europeans........for good reason. Life is more dangerous here. We have more crime and many more bad neighborhoods. While we have a police force, much like the INS, they are stretched thin. So its not unusual for citizens to ban together to protect their neighborhood by maintaining what we call Neighborhood Watches and other pro active, citizen sponsored methods of surveillance. The Minute Man is simply an outgrowth of that approach to citizen participation. I don't expect you to understand it.....its a uniquely American theme due to conditions in this country.

So again, your analogy is a weak one.
