Eric, I like your organization of files by partition. My only suggestion is that, if possible, put the swap file on a small fast separate hard drive so swaps go across the buss and not between partitions on the same drive. I keep a 7 GB partition for the OS but haven't gotten around yet to the more thorough organization you described.

Also I keep backed up (cloned) to one of several small hard drives so to repartition a hard drive is no big deal. Just FDISK it and start over with partitions properly organized.

What a hobby!
