Geez, only a few Nasdaq stocks went from 90 to 1.70 or so (the price differential percentage wise between the 900K Cali bungalow and the 17K Danville equivalent);

LOL! Tell me about it. I just bought 5K shares ITWO recently, they did a reverse 25:1 split 2 mos ago.... my 5K shares would have been 125K shares at 100$ a pop or 12.5 million at the peak! (OK that was the absolute PEAK, lets say you didn't get that and had to suffer for a measly 9 million).

So now I'm back in at the bottom, certain I will get my 9 million again in just a few years.

So, with that in mind, can the 17K Danville house appreciate to 900K, HELL YES!

Actually one of my favorite movies is 1955 Picnic starring Kim Novak. Whenever I see houses that are anywhere apart from either coast or texas, thats what I think of. IN nothing like Kansas of course (which is I think where the film was made). But anyway nice neighbors and friendly people, apart from the rat race is what I think.

One other plus about the Danville place is that Danville is only about 35 miles outside of Champaign-Urbana (you know, where Mark Andreesen went to school). Some Tech giant oughta move there from sili valley, they'd save/make a bundle on the real estate alone....

I commuted for a semester to the U of I.
My first one.
It was a very rough semester.
Ended up on probation.
Had 2 years at Danville Junior College first.
I pretty much partied all the time.
Going to the big U was as shock.
Instead of being the loudmouth union hall rat that everyone knew, I was a big zero. Not that being a loudmouth union hall rat that everyone knew was such a big accomplishment.

What is odd is that when I lived in Danville, some friends and I went to Champaign every Friday and Saturday night. I mean every Friday and saturday. They served in Champaign whether or not you were of age (which we werent) as long as you had a college ID.

Then once I started going to school there, I hated the place. My car broke down too. So every weekend I hitchhiked home from campus to 14 Delaware Street, Danville Illinois, 61832.
Is that address available on Google?

Typically I got home in less that 1.5 hours, sometime in an hour. That is not bad. Seldom had to wait more than 5 minutes between pick ups. On Sunday I would hitch hike back.
Eventually I got my degree in Civil Engineering and I hated it.
Graduated with honors after going on probation for a semester.
First job at Murphy Engineering in Chicago.
Left after 2 years for a computer job and worked with mainframes for over 20 years.

BTW Tuition my first semester was something like $257. It was actually less expensive than at Danville Junior college. I put myself thru school (more or less) by playing poker with farmers in Cayuga Indiana on weekends. By senior year However, I was flat broke (tuition and rent and books all going up) and parents paid for the last year. I thought $2000 was a lot. Obviously I was a dumbazz even then. I really do no know how anyone can afford school these days.

Mish

I went for a job interview in Urbana-Champaign. Real depressing town IMHO. But it was January and I'd just arrived from Australia...
