Well, I wasn't saying that the doctor was right, per se. Only that I find it rather quaint and charming that he felt that he had the right or duty to lecture you, for your own good (as he saw it).

In another time and place, the one I grew up in and the one I believe you did, too, total strangers felt like they had the right to admonish young people for misbehaving, or what they perceived as misbehaving.

We seem to have lost that. At least, I perceive it as a loss.

But then, I still admonish strange young people for misbehaving in public, even as their parents stand there with a helpless smile, doing nothing.

Usually it shocks them so much to hear "you stop that, right now!" that they actually do it.
