Actually Carter inherited the growing crisis in Iran and the growing Arab animosity toward imperialist western oil companies. read your history. I recommend "The Prize" which is a history of the oil business. You will then realize Carter was not to blame.

Carter was the first prez to make really major progress in restoring peace to Israel. Carter was also burdened with a colossal Vietnam War debt which was causing skyrocketing inflation. We might see that again with Bush's colossal debts.

Carter launched a rescue mission to Tehran to save the hostages. If it had succeeded, he might have been re-elected. It was actually very suspicious that all four Sea Stallions crashed, but we'll never know if they were sabotaged. All we know is the mission failed.

What would you have done, invade Iran? What did Reagan do? He traded arms with Iran then supplied more arms to Saddam and encouraged their war against each other. Something like a million people died as a result.

Carter was not a successful president like Clinton but he was and is a great man, plus probably the onloy true Christian to occupy the WH in our lifetimes.
