<<The cops won't check. They spend their time issuing tickets. No money to be made for the city in checking out thefts.>>

Back in '75 I had a 900 Kawasaki stolen. Car pulled into the lot, guy gets out, cuts the chain and has a key that fits, only 4 different keys that year, bike and car leave. Came back later and nabbed a Harley.

The next day I ran into a girl who had seen both thefts. She had the make, model, color and year of the car. Plus 6 of the 7 numbers on the plate and the last being either a 3 or an 8. I went to the police station and was told they could find the owner of the car but "it would be a lot of work". Tossed my paper in the trash!!

That was only $10,000 of stolen bikes, now if they had the same info on a $10 parking violation ...

My new one has the front wheel locked at an angle, an alarm, a 10mm chain with a built in lock, and it is locked around a pipe. They won't get this one!

Easy.
Use a battery operated sawzall with metal cutting blade or a grinder to cut the soft metal post...lift the bike off and take to shop.
End of story.

Thiefs irritate me more than nearly anything else. Think of the money, time and effort we must expend for locks. Far as I am concerned, you have every right to plant an explosive device with your moped. If they lift it off the ground BOOM they all go up in smoke. If I'm on your jury I guarantee you YOU WILL WALK. jdn
