A simple rule of thumb, I think is if the eye touches any part of Lake Ponchartrain, they're in for big trouble. Right now the forecast track has it going over the far east end of the Lake:

nhc.noaa.gov

But it's relative, and will depend on the size of the footprint of hurricane force winds as the storm passes over, as well as the tides as we've discussed. Right now it doesn't look pretty.

This is a chart we'll want to keep our eyes on....
