i will make money, because the proceeds are allocated elsewhere

hmmm - well I can't do that - got to keep the short proceeds on deposit doing nothing - I know larger investors can get some interest - but wouldn't still amount to much.

So you can redeploy the cash in something that really makes money?

I'm surprised that the collapse of housing stocks already started.... Don't know if it is the ultimate collapse though. But looks bad when TOL falls on their earning report.

WLS hasn't really started to collapse yet. That gap where the General offered to take the company private at $82 looks alluring.

I am also thinking more and more that a recession of some sort will materialize in the near term... the probability is rising. The Fed does seem hellbent on inverting the yield curve. Up till now I didn't think they do this and that oil prices would fall back to $40-50 later this year... The stock charts don't seem to indicate a recession coming to me, more just a mid-cycle slowdown.

Well I am just following the trend and it is down now, and will stick to it till proven otherwise.
