You're asking questions with complicated answers. I don't support any animal testing of any kind. Animals have their own lives, that they value, and I don't believe we have the right to take their lives. While certainly there have been medical advances because of animal testing, there are many examples of failed results with animal testing as well.

I think that if people stopped eating animals there would be a lot less disease! If you are concerned about living a long life, and one that is not filled with degenerative diseases, stop cramming yourself full of animal corpses and milk products. I don't think humans have an inherent right to abuse animals so they can possibly live a bit longer.

I also think there is a huge spiritual benefit to not consuming animals and their milk, and incredible spiritual development as the result of becoming a vegan. You would not realize this unless you experienced it, but a huge part of our brain power is devoted to blocking out the fact that we are eating kind and sweet creatures, that a being has to die for us to eat meat, that we are eating animals just as intelligent and sensitive as our beloved pets at almost every meal.

Having said all of that, I would certainly save my child before my animals, if it came down to that in an emergency. So I do not equate animal and human life as exactly equal. I just believe we horribly mistreat animals, and do not have the right to gobble them up and torture them in laboratories.
