Scarlet Song was deeply depressing. It's a great book, but very very sad.

As a remedy I went right to the Forsyte Saga, because I know rereading that will cheer me right up :-)

I have not read the Toad, but I really liked the rat:-)

I have added Block to my list for light reading. I have finished all the Margaret Frazer mysteries, so I need a new series. I really enjoyed her research in to 15th century.

Ms. Frazer:

Solon, bebe,

Lawrence Block writes extremely entertaining and charming novels...I love him and have a few autographed copies...did you know that the film Burglar with Whoopie Goldberg was an adaptation of one of his books featuring his character Bernie Rhodenbarr, the thief who just loves to steal? They changed him into her...for the movie.

I know this only because my neighbor is an author and knows him...that is how I got my autographed copies.

Best regards,
