I have been going through some mental machinations about "possessions" in the last few years.

I sold or gave away almost everything I had.

My dad is 84 shortly. He has Parkinson's. And I've just looked after him for a few days after Cataract surgery. He has beautiful silver and china that he has NEVER touched (and many other "treasures", besides). Now he must move out of his home (whatever "now" means). He has no idea what to do with all his "treasures" (my word--not his).

It is so very sad. We cling and we cling and we cling cling cling--to things. Perhaps I am a coward. I am trying to get rid of (almost) everything. I do not want to be 83 and looking at my china or my wonderful books...
