Interesting way to look at it - for now we have a "faithful" 51% majority trying to govern the entire country with their own agenda. Bush's poll ratings the next three years will be the acid test for that experiment; I guess I was trying to say in my other post that if that experiment succeeds, we will get more of the same from whichever faction wins 51% at the next election.

Which is bad for our country, and bad for our democracy.

My long-shot hope is that we actually see a solid 30-40% of the electorate forcibly reject ideological politics. Make it impossible for a Karl Rove to hustle and gerrymander razor-thin "majorities" because the core faithful is only 25-30% instead of 40%, and the whole game goes out the window like it did after Goldwater was discredited so badly.
