For legacies like the chimp, whose family has donated buildings on the campus, yes it is. Yale is hardly alone in the practice. If the Bush family had donated some buildings on the UT campus, I'm sure they would have accepted his application for Law School, and he never would have received less than "C". It's "affirmative action" for the rich, connected and lazy. If he wasn't a Bush, the chimp didn't even make the grades in Andover that would have allowed him in to Yale.

Some people in the chimp's social class make the grades and do the work even though they don't have to. They're the one's with character, that deserve respect. The chimp deserves none.
