One thing I wish Cindy Sheehan and the anti-war movement had not done is use crosses with the names of dead soldiers on them in their demonstrations, without the express permission of the families. I think symbolism like that is very powerful, and can be extremely hurtful to families who do not agree with the anti-war movement and do not want their children used in that way. I think that has been extremely divisive, and really riled up the demonstrators who support the war. I think it would be healthy for both sides to try to be a bit more rational and less emotional in their debate, if that is possible. I know it is really hard given the circumstances.
