You bet, it's universal.

I still have my Mom, and Dad died gracefully, unexpectedly, and was enjoying life. My wife still has both parents. They are in their 80s, as is my Mom. I don't know anyone who has such a fortunate family as I do. My sister was widowed two years after she got married owing to a lightning strike, but she found a fine husband to replace the fine one she lost. No other disasters or tragedies, except my daughter's failed surgery which she is still coping with, and my wife's constant pain.

So I am lucky, all things considered.

I find that it helps to talk it out with people, even strangers if you are careful.
