Radio news here is considering flooding in New Orleans inevitable at this stage. Question is how bad. A lot people apparently will remain in the city according to a disaster preparedness academic researcher in Baton Rouge. Hopefully they can get into upper stories of buildings if the worst case scenario unfolds.

In the meantime oil at $70, NDX down 13.5 on Globex. Nat Gas 11.95 up 2.15!

Ausie stock futures (SPI) down 37 points..

"Do a Katrina" is my new term. It applies for a phenomenon that albeit of small importance, people pad it up for camera use and for earn non-deserved moolah!! More for the later than for the former.

TJ, know why I go to these troubled spots from which people dread go?

Because the popular press 'do a Katrina' of these places. Like I was in Nigeria, and if you meet me there for lunch on a Sunday you'd be treated to a Lebanese food buffet washed down with French wine.

Here where I am, the only thing different is that the place is boring, but with capital B. Six hours drive, south, there is this facility Bush doesn't like.

But will be ever taken down? NO! Why? becuse the guys here would sink a big ship right in the middle of the Hormuz straight through which 1 of every 4 barrels pass every day. Then they'd mine for good measure and that wold be it.

Cheap. low tech. Effective. The guys down here would be using that facility for quite a while!!!

Meanwhile they are doing a Katrina out of this thing down here. I can't imagine they being able to casacad 2.000 special centrifuges to enrich U.
