Bob Brinker of Moneytalk radio show was calling for Bush to release some of the national oil reserves today. He claimed it would stall off the increase in oil prices which will be played up by options traders tomorrow.

CR, I don't know the track, looks like it jogged back a little left now ... ssd.noaa.gov

The amazing thing to me is the eye... it's been absolutely "perfect" for what, 12-16 hours now?

Let's hope for a replacement cycle starting pretty soon. Maybe it can get down to a 3-4 before landfall.

John

MSNBC recently interviewed some bafoon who wanted to ride out the storm in his 100 year old home in New Orleans...How wise is that...? This storm could level much of New Orleans -- the Superbowl stadium may be one of the few safe places...I hear that at least 100,000 people did not evacuate and have stayed behind (many had no transportation and are quite poor)...Mobile, Alabama could have tremendous flooding too...Our government has devoted SO MUCH time, energy and money to the Iraq quagmire yet we have failed to adequately prepare for an increasing number of hurricanes...Look at Florida last year...Some top scientists think accelerating global warming has increased the likelihood of more frequent and more deadly hurricanes....And of course Mr. Bush is THE WORST environmental president in our country's history -- his administration is in bed with big oil, energy companies, mining firms, chemical companies, etc....The Bush/Cheney regime ignores strong science and FAILS to take global warming seriously...It's embarassing to have a president like Mr. Bush...I can see why the rest of the world is often frustrated with the United States...At least Tony Blair wants to lead on the global warming issue...Bush is asleep at the wheel - worst leader we have ever had (no doubt about it).
