Setting up a strong border patrol in Iraq IMHO takes the Coalition troops OUT of danger. Look at our deaths, most of them are roadside bombs. With no need to run convoys and the like along the highways we get our troops out of the danger and out of the public eye for most Iraqi's.
N.Korea has never bothered me that much. First off, they cant even feed themselves so I think their POWER is vastly overstated, secondly there are strong nations all around them that have more to lose then we do and are unlikely to sit back and do nothing, finally China and Korea have a record going back a thousand years of hostility against one another. China right now is their lukewarm buddy but no way is China ultimately going to go along with Nuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
Sudan is a big desert, nothing there but a lot of miserable people. Yes, it could become a hideout for terrorists which we may have to face eventually.
But, to change the dynamics of the world the KEY right now is Iraq, Turkey and Afghanistan. A strong democracy there will lead to Democratization of the entire middle east. I am thinking over 50 years not in one or two presidential terms. We should thank Bush for being so far sighted. jdn
