Eeek's Guide To The Bible THIRTEEN HEAVE HO! This passage shows the beautiful simplicity of the Lord's planning. Waving the breast is a "WAVE Offering". Heaving the shoulder is a "HEAVE offering". God wishes only to have the fat, the blood, and the sweet savour. God wants Aaron and his sons to eat the nice juicy breast and shoulder meat (the right shoulder)..."by a statute for ever". Now an atheist will say: "well--this is just the Priesthood getting the sheep to willingly part with their good food which ends up in the mouths of the lazy and shiftless (but cunning, cunning, cunning). They ignore the fact that God has no need for the actual meat. Does God need to chew His food? God only wants it waved in the air so that the smell will carry up to heaven. Notice that Aaron takes all of the breast but he leaves the LEFT shoulder for the people. So everybody gets something to eat and nobody has anything to complain about. God made this a "statute for ever". But the people have forgotten God's words and they trivialize the grand importance of God's "forever" rituals. Nowadays, people make their own rules and ignore the Holy words of God. As a follower of the Holy words--I DO NOT ignore them. If I eat a roast I always HEAVE it several times so that the smell will waft up. When I eat chicken breasts I always WAVE them in the air. Then I give them to my sons to eat as commanded by God. The girls eat pancakes. God makes it clear that if He is not given the fat and the blood, then He will not keep "peace" with us. People wonder why God is angry with the world. A simple WAVE and a HEAVE would put matters right.
