Why is common sense, so very uncommon?

Hi Steve. I don't know the answer to that question but I do know that when you get between someone and something they want to believe all the common sense in the world won't help. You have to "prove it," and on the way to having it proved they'll attack your motives, your character and your parentage. When they can no longer defend their unfounded beliefs they'll undoubtedly blame you for "messing things up."

Remember when just pointing out that the occupation of Iraq could engender a deadly insurgency was enough to generate clarion calls of "anti-American, traitor, defeatist, Bush hater" and more? Well now those same posters acknowledge the deadly insurgency without even pausing. I guess they became anti-American or Bush haters. G.

Of course, in person most people are usually a little more polite, especially when dealing with men whose character has been forged by the things you've seen and done.

Good to hear from you again. Ed
