Bill I quote----myself: "First, we all have to acknowledge that no one can "conclusively prove" what motivates another person. That creates, of course, the luxury of deniability.

Why should someone have to complete the picture for those who are determined not to connect the dots?

With the lives of America's soldiers and many civilians at risk, I'd have thought you'd be more willing to use the best information available to answer this critically important question. But you insist on creating a standard of "prove it to me" that's clearly impossible to meet. I'm not so afraid of making decisions based on logical thinking, especially when the conclusions are as apparent as the ones we're discussing.

In my life I've made a lot of decisions based on my assessment of facts which couldn't be "proven." There were a few instances where those decisions were life or death decisions and it was my life in the balance. I'm still here. Maybe that's why I trust my judgement and don't need someone make things black or white before I can decide.

How do you get through life exercising such timidity in using common sense and your own judgement? Ed

Hi Bill; Re: "If not, it is difficult to see how anyone could represent any assertion about terrorist creation and Iraq as a fact."

The real issue is that of saving American lives. The fact is that the countries that are in Iraq have had suicide bombers blow them up since then. A large scale attempt was just made in Oklahoma. The bomber blew hisself up early, either while redistributing explosives or when his timer went off without any targets or whatever.

One of the stupid arguments for fighting in Iraq was so that we would fight the terrorists there instead of fighting them here. Since then, we have had more than 2000 citizens killed in Iraq. That is far, far, far more casualties than the worst attacks that have gone on in western countries since 9/11. Soon enough our death toll in Iraq will exceed that of the 9/11 attacks.
