You don't see the first glimmerings of intelligence already? Ask Google something and you will see associative thinking in action. Often I've asked something and got back not just what I was thinking about, but new and improved ideas too. That is thinking. And it's right at the very beginning, like a zygote. Give it a few years. On "emotions", those are not part of life as we know it. Check out a fish and see how much emotion you find. Or how about a tree? But they are life! Cyberspace doesn't need emotions in the way humans think of them. Working in cyberspace is a lot different from working in the oil industry or working in the cotton fields. In 1987 I took a niece around the industrial part of Antwerp at night to show her what goes on. It was eerie. Nuclear reactor feed steel plant and refineries and plastics and other factories were all humming away, feeding car factories manned by robots with huge trains carting the goods away in a big interconnecting monster, with just a few cars at each facility, to keep an eye on a few dials and tweak a few gadgets. I worked in BP Oil International labour intensive offices, not the factories, which didn't need so many people. Cyberspace is much more independent because it will have It's own brain. Note cool apostrophe there. It could order another 1000 km of fibre and a bunch of switches directly to the factory. Mqurice
