As both a British and Australian citizen I've always been rather ambivalent on the whole Ashes thing :) Wasn't into cricket growing up in England either. Almost noone I knew was. We watched cricket games in high school and the countryside as just a lazy thing to do. I wasn't much into the other sports like football (soccer for Aussies and Americans) either anyway. I did go once to an international cricket match - Australia vs. England in London. Went with one English and one Aussie guy and I sat in the middle LOL. Back in 1990 or 1989.

I followed Alex when it first started in the Independent.
