I fear epidemics of cholera, malaria, diseases we haven't seen in generations.

Tons of mosquitoes, and no DDT.

The wreckage is bad but the flooding -- catastrophic isn't a big enough word for it.

On the more fortunate side, imagine if we did not have the sophisticated weather forecasting tools that we have. Imagine if they did not evacuate NO and the other nearby places.

The disaster would have been on a biblical scale.

It could have been far worse. I guess that is small consolation for those that suffered loss.

Just this headline says it ... Mayor: 80% of New Orleans under water. Both airports under water. 2 block wide levee break pouring water in, water still rising. Some parts under 20 feet of water. I-10 causeway utterly destroyed...

CB, It is almost the complete destruction of a major city that has a history which we do not want to lose, and a lot of good people that have entertained all Americans that have visited that unique city.

Let's hope that a medical task force will come to the aid of the stricken citizens. The problems are just beginning, and need the attention of all kinds of agencies.
