I don't think most Americans realize how much they depend on the port system in South Louisiana for their energy. Most of the petroleum and natural gas that enter this country comes in through there. We aren't as dependent on the Mississippi River as we used to be, to move grain and lumber and so forth, but more dependent than ever on the energy.

Losing New Orleans doesn't mean the loss of Mardi Gras and Bourbon Street, it means the loss of those oil and gas companies and shipping companies.
