How long can you feel sorry for people who look down the barrel of a gun and "accidentally" pull the trigger - again and again and again? before i respond to that, i want to preface my cold, dispassionate analysis of the recurring problem by saying i DO feel sorry for the people who have been so devastated by this hurricane and levee failure, obviously much help is needed to provide relief and we should do so....but once the immediate needs of the affected have been met, i think a serious discussion and rethinking of placing human beings in the bulls eye of nature's most devastating occurrences over and over again this is where i strenuously object... watching our government in action, using our tax dollars, using OPM, to basically replicate the same situation whereby there will yet again be loss of life and disruption of lives and destruction of property

There are 8 refineries in the New Orleans-Mobile area. Louisiana is a major source of oil and natural gas. The biggest river in the country, one of the biggest rivers in the world, goes past New Orleans, which is one of the major ports in the country and the world. The fisheries industry in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama help feed the nation. The rice industry in Louisiana helps feed the nation. That's off the top of my head, I could tell you more if I cared to google it. This is not a place where all you do is gamble and go to titty bars. This is part of the backbone of the US economy. Nobody wants you to feel sorry for them. They are our brothers and our sisters, and they would help you if you were in trouble.
