we want to put out fires and address political constituencies While the NIMBY's and econuts squawk and chatter, Nero just fiddles away. I read somewhere recently that Japan is preparing to spend some billions to build refining capacity, and just to our north, Canada is rapidly developing its huge tar sand deposits. The US has coal and oil shale resources that dwarf even the Canadian reserves, if the impediments to exploiting them are removed. If this current energy crisis is not enough to get the people in this country to wake up and smell the coffee, then we'll deserve the consequences...
