The Taliban was quickly removed because it was harboring terrorists who were facilitating attacks on the USA (Remember 911)... not because it was unable to establish its rule over Afghanistan.

In fact it was effective at establishing control over the Afghanistan in a very short period of time. It would very likely have annexed Eastern Iran, and Southern Pakistan soon after that. In many ways it already had, and maintains a foot hold in those regions today.

Had it not foolishly attacked the USA, it would very likely have replicated its model in many parts of Africa and South east Asia without much more hassle than it had taking over Afghanistan....

So, it is still a viable force as we are seeing in Iraq.

" Precisely my point, the Taliban was quickly removed from government control of Afghanistan, just as any Al-Quida govt. would be.

So you are agreeing with me, that if the USA were to stay out of it, the Al-Quaida type terrorist organisations would conquer what ever they wanted ... which is everything.

I guess your precise point then is that the USA has been doing the precisely right thing all along. Is that it?
