Levees that are too short isn't the problem. It's the containing of the Mississippi River that's the problem. No more sediment = no more new land being deposited = the whole area subsiding back into the ocean. City planners, engineers, gov't officials et al brought this one upon themselves. Basic geology apparently isn't taught down there. Too bad so many have to suffer for such short sighted planning and the unwillingness to spend a little money.

good to see the prez actually cutting a vacation short for a change. I guess praying wasn't going to fix this disaster.
