I agree. It is actually rude of them to even suggest job creation in the face of such a still unfolding tragedy. And again, homes that were blown away will be rebuilt by insurance, but who is going to pay to rebuild tens of thousands of homes lost to flood waters? In watching the video feeds this morning, I felt bad for those whose houses burned down with no way for firetrucks to respond. But when you think about it, those may have been the lucky ones. At least their homeowners policies cover fire.

Again, this is not going away in six months. It will take several years to rebuild the lost freeways and bridges, and perhaps much longer to restore the local economy.

For the thousands living in apartment complexes, it will be simpler and far less stressful to simply walk away.

Yes, 2005 is chock full of challenges. And yet our country remains so bogged down in politics and corruption that it can no longer recognize right from wrong. What we really need in America, in my opinion, are TRUE leaders. Non-political types who can get the job done one way or another and who refuse to be bought, look the other way or play ball at any cost.

One "Give 'em hell Harry" is worth a thousand same ol' same ol's.

I just hope I live long enough to see one such person take an important office. Not holding my breath.
