I lived in a section of Port Arthur TX called "lakeview" in '42. I found out the source of the name when we had a tropical storm. Opened the front door to a lake.

The answer was that "that's our home."

My sister said something similar to me when I asked why she lived so close the river. After a 100 year flood destroyed her home she bought on the high ground instead of rebuilding near the river.

Each year it was an emergency. I asked people why they lived there. The answer was that "that's our home." Even as a kid I realized how dumb that was.

Don't worry about it. Intelligent Design (ID) has it all factored in. Those who take AP courses in science will figure it out and go live on higher ground and survive some likely natural disasters. It is all part of ID. It was designed that way <gggg>.
