A lack of a quick response and not immediately showing up in NO and other devasted areas of the Gulf coast for moral support is not substantial, in your mind then? Especially when he was so close by..

I don't know what to say then, except you have a much different idea of leadership than I do.

I agree, Tim. It has only been 24 hours and the situation is still extremely dangerous. Bush has cut short his vacation, has said the government would do everything it could, and my guess is he will be there in a day or so as people begin to face the reality and it is safe for him to do so.
The cynic in me says that this is way too great an opportunity for the Republicans to waste. They will want him doing what he does best, as he did after 9-11. He won't shirk an opportunity that could be so positive for his flagging numbers and I will be very surprised if we don't see him there sooner rather than later.
Jumping on him for this is a partisan attack, people just looking for more reasons to bash. He's been offering plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize him without our having to stoop to using this.
