Oh no! So many stories like that.

In Juneau, from the fifth floor of my office we watched a man repairing his roof on a two story house (a frequent task in Juneau because of the rain). He slipped on the roof and nearly fell off, but managed to snag a gutter and saved himself.

A timber show clown who I'd seen perform several times in Oregon, came to Juneau. He was dancing around on top of a spar pole and made to fall off as part of the act I'd seen him do so many times. His equipment failed, or he failed to secure it properly. He fell to his death, right in front of a huge crowd. The timber show just fell apart after that. Nobody had the heart for it. I didn't see it. I was driving by to my house, which was a few blocks away, and saw all the commotion. He was a revered highschool teacher who performed for the fun of it.

A friend of my son fell from a highrise they were building in Portland. He, of course, was killed.

I hate it when people get hurt or killed like that. It makes me feel like I'm losing a bit of my own life.
