Half the stores trashed during the Rodney King riots were Korean-owned. Though that's probably because of the demographics more than any sort of "anti-Korean" conspiracy.


It was completely due to demographics. The rioters were trying to get to the white areas of the city and the Koreatown was sandwiched in between on Olympic.

Either way, it's a good thing the chief of police at the time, Darryl Gates, was miles away from the riots attending galas. God forbid anything should have happened to him.

It also didn't help any that the mayor and Gates were not talking to each other and that the mayor was at some other soiree. LA burned while those two feuded.
