It certainly ranks right up there. Probably on the same level as when Chicago burned, if not worse. They totally re-engineered that city and its suburbs in the wake of that. And laid the foundations of what we think of as a modern city.

Maybe I'm wrong... but I get the feeling that a lot of people really don't care. That they are more entertained than empathetic. That to them this is just another reality series, or another disaster movie with computer generated graphics. That they have seen so many fantasy disasters, that they can't tell the fantasy from the real thing.
