"Huck them Fuskies"

Who takes the Apple Cup this year?

FWIW, my daughter is about 12 months away from, in all likelihood, being a Coug.

I think he (Kerry) would have been there, a fly-over at least, mobilized a special task force for relief, called a special news conference, probably in the Gulf coast somewhere to answer questions about the relief effort.

Then he would have been doing nothing but interfering with those who are on the ground doing their jobs. There IS a task force for relief; it's called FEMA, that's exactly what its job is. There have been plenty of news conferences to answer questions about the relief effort; one more wouldn't do anybody any good. Those are all fluff approches, which, you're probably right, is exactly what kerry would have done. A true commander makes sure that the plans and resources are in place, which Bush did, and then gets out of the way and lets the professionals do their jobs.

From AP photo caption, photo of Bush looking out window of airplane,

"President Bush looks out the window of Air Force One inspecting damage from Hurricane Katrina while flying over New Orleans en route back to the White House,"

Okay, fly-over done. Just what you wanted.

There were two interesting letters in todays Houston Chronicle - one right after the other.

The first berated Bush for not making an appearance yet .."I was thoroughly disappointed that President Bush couldn't take a day away from his vacation to fly over the .." - you get the picture.

The next anticipated he would soon and told him not to waste the taxpayers money .."in the coming day, President Bush will spend millions of taxpayer dollars jetting himself and his entourage to .. A message to Bush: Please don't! Residents of .. are going to be busy salvaging .."

Just goes to show you he's going to be dissed no matter what he does or doesn't do.
