I dont have a problem with people taking those things as they will be discarded anyhow, but to take a wide screen t/v under these conditions is CRAZY

There is no way to differentiate looting jewelry etc. from looting food and water, once you're in a situation that pretty much necessitates looting of food and water. The only answer is to get the relief supplies and the National Guard in place asap.
