Listening to Mat Lauer interview the governor, she mentioned, in response to a question about looting, that their efforts to throw sand bags into the breach has been futile, but didn't say what the plan to try next is. Nor did Lauer have the wit to press her on it.

BTW, the apparent mental collapse of the governor is also a big story. Either that or the crisis has revealed that she is just an empty dress.

It'll take time to fill barges with ballast before bringing them to the levee to sink. You're right, it isn't going to stop. They'll get the levees fixed after the water level equalizes.
