Sunday night I heard (Horaldo?) Ask the mayor if people were out watching the levees. He said no, it was too dangerous. I suppose there'd have been nothing any could do about it in a huricane anyway.

I suspect a lot of it has to do with the fact that the levees held during the worst of the storm and guards were down.

Is this a southern thing, or is it conjecture? What in the H*ll does the color of someones skin have to do with winning an election or not?

He would have been great but his dark skin cost him the few votes needed to win.
