And it was just a free form running idea, with the goal being to reduce the existence of the idle rich.

How about starting with eliminating the idle poor. When we are done with those, we move to idle rich. ;-)

So if you inherit $1 billion and spend your life cruising on a yacht carousing young impressionable Ukranian girls and don't earn a dime (you lucky bastard!), your kids get $10 million each and whatever is left of your inheritance goes toward rebuilding New Orleans.

Isn't an investor in MBS securities building / rebuilding just as well?

I think I already had a pretty good understanding of your idea. I just don't agree with it for reasons I explained in the earlier conversation. Even though there was never much prospect of us coming to an agreement on this, it was interesting examine the disagreement and the reasons behind it, but I think we've already covered that ground on your specific proposal. Here I was talking more in general terms about large inheritance taxes.
