I dont know but I bet they will be able to grow great Roses. Shreveport, Louisianna is the home of the American Rose Society. jdn

When the New Basin Canal was dug (not there anymore but close to site of present break) they brought in Irish to dig it rather than using slaves because the Irish were expendable, and they didn't want to lose valuable slaves to the diseases.

I don't know how many Irish died. A lot.
