That is the equivalent of trying to eliminate fire ants by beating on a hornet's nest.

As time goes on, Iraq is becoming the failed state that is joining Afganistan as a home for terrorists. That is not how the war began and it is still not a replacement fight for getting the Al Qaeda organization. Iraq is not some honeypot attracting the bad guys from around the world. Iraq is growing new terrorists.

This is not WWII and Bush is not FDR. It has been a lot longer period of time between 9/11 and now than between Pearl Harbor and VJ day. Not every island in WWI would have been an appropriate target, say for example New Zealand.
