Not really. Any president, even clinton, would and should do that. If Bush didn't the press would claim that he didn't even care enough to look out the window when Air Force 1 did a flyby of the area.

The President couldn't (no matter who he/she was) go into some area like NO right now....When a President comes to an area, there are all sorts of precautions taken, and NO and Alabama, and Mississippi just simply couldn't afford to take the manpower off their current assignments right now.

If Bush had tried to go in, he would have been criticized for the above reason.

Besides, what airports are open right now?
